Azhdaya dragon is the first of the Geovishaps to appear.  According to mythology, he was born blind but desired to observe surface life, thus Morax bestowed upon him the power of sight. Morax told Azhdaha in his future contract that if he ever jeopardized the order of Liyue, he would not hesitate to seal him back beneath. Azhdaha became a friend of both Morax and humans, with a special fondness towards blacksmiths.

Azhdaha began to suffer from “erosion” as time went, forgetting Morax’s face and contracting with time, and when humans began traveling into The Chasm to mine, overexploitation of its resources harmed the Ley Lines inside, causing Azhdaha considerable pain. Despite Morax’s efforts to halt the process using his abilities, Azhdaha began targeting the same humanity he vowed to protect, leading the Geo Archon to intervene with Mountain Shaper, Moon Carver, and a third unknown Adeptus who had since vanished from history.

Given Azhdaha’s overwhelming might as an ancient elemental creature, Morax and the adept struggled to subdue the mad Azhdaha in a fight that began in the Chasm and lasted till the end of time. a trail of destruction leading north to Nantianmen They were finally able to imprison Azhdaha’s Eroded self in the Dragon-Queller at Nantianmen, thanks to Azhdaha’s remaining consciousness voluntarily accepting his destiny. The conflicts of elemental energies that occurred during this war also led to the formation of Dragonfall.

Azhdaha would never forgive Morax for his alleged “betrayal,” and he was ultimately able to manifest a portion of his power into a vessel known as Jiu. Jiu shared her creator’s hatred for Morax, but because the vessel assumed the appearance of a small kid, everybody she encountered dismissed her rage. Azhdaha then intended to break away from his captivity by having Jiu trick a party of miners from The Chasm into traveling to the Dragon-Queller to uncover the seal, which their pickaxes and his assaults would shatter, allowing him to escape.

He returned to Liyue to exact vengeance. This effort, unbeknownst to him, also allowed the remaining benign half of his personality to escape, and it possessed a human — Kun Jun — to alert Morax of the scheme. This would be Azhdaha’s undoing, as he was finally confronted and defeated by the Traveler, Zhongli, Morax’s mortal host, and his benign mind. After expending his might before being resealed, the frenzied Azhdaya dragon appeared to regain some of his sanity, while the benign mind calmly bid farewell to Morax.
